  1. Prof. Black, please share a toast with Prof. Hudson: The Godfather and his Mob are Busted:

    Oh, and “Michael the Mensch” was a rock star at Columbia tonight, despite the “moderator” jerk’s antics. Here are a few of my comments, yet unposted elsewhere:

    It’s time to recognize that Michael Hudson is the Economist Most Ready for Prime Time. It is he who ought to be addressing the nation at least once per week, beginning with the talk he just gave at Columbia, and many more like it–a New Stand-Up routine in the interest of We the People. Anyone can follow him, he is so clear in thinking and speech, with “plain talk” to Americans, without the slightest condescension.

    Why not try it? He should begin his “fireside chats” (short, direct, amusing, realistic, and sweet) immediately, which should be posted on the Internet and on TV at a time certain every week–so We the People can gather round the warmth of his fire–allowing Questions to be answered “from the floor.” These might also be Town Hall meetings c/o Bernie Sanders in VT, simulcast on YouTube or other such venue “live,” with “Archiving” of speech + Q&A on the Website. Will Bernie Sanders arrange this right now? Will Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala drop in from time to time?

    Tonight from nyt.com –

    Put MICHAEL THE MENSCH/Michael Hudson on Saturday Night Live every week, and on his own show moreover, to MAKE MINCED MEAT of Dimon the Turkey (to be polite) and other “Schmucks of Finance.”

    Michael the Mensch performs miracles: he makes Economics Entertaining! While educating us in the arcane history of Babylonian Economics, he is more entertaining that Edwin Edwards and Huey Long. Really! He has the gift.

    Believe! an afficianado of Louisiana Politics.

    JILL/CHERI 2012 ought to feature clips of Michael the Mensch on Road Shows.

    Well, Prof. Black, you get the idea, by way of a little New Orleans sass.

  2. Prof. Black, this is Off the Record, since I’m not into hurting conventional “stand-up comics.”

    I just ran across this at http://www.umkc.edu homepage:

    //”Stand-up Economist gets UMKC laughing
    Yoram Bauman has an unusual profession. In fact, he may be the only one in his field.

    “Still, the “world’s first and only stand-up economist” has found a niche for himself. Bauman has taken his unique blend of economics-based comedy everywhere from Time Magazine to PBS. Most recently, he brought it to the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

    “’I got my Ph.D. in economics, only to decide that I wanted to do stand-up comedy,” Bauman told a crowd of nearly 200 people.'”//

    PROF. BLACK, Surely you know that this has nothing in common with my appreciation of the hilarious truths that Prof. Hudson utters deadpan, with fully human, humane, spontaneity as he wields the Sword of Truth. He never “goes for the laugh/applause.” Please don’t misunderstand me. IF the humor deriving from Prof. Hudson’s grounded reality, juxtaposed with the preposterously fake reality we are expected to believe, is the APEX of spontaneous delight, THEN the static “facsimile” of humor meant to derive from “punch-line stand-up” is . . . well, you know. In fact, this canned quality of “Economics Humor” is likely the kiss of death.

    Oh, can’t they leave anything on earth spontaneous? Must we bear their continual contrivances, DOA?

    Is Prof. Hudson staffing up weird? (This is weird, isn’t it?). “I’m thinking, I’m thinking.” (Jack Benny). Can UMKC use a culled research library that spills beans coherently? Just wondering (recalling Alexandria).
